Post-Conference Seminar:

"Consumer Credit Calculations: Myth, Magic, or Mathematics?"
Presenter: Jeff Bussye, Carleton, Inc.

Whether you've practiced for years or merely months, understanding credit calculations and their impacts can be overwhelming. We are pleased to announce that we have partnered with Carleton, Inc. to present a post-conference seminar on May 8th from 2:00 - 5:00 that will lift the veil on different interest calculation methods, the effect of time on interest calculations and other operational calculations that our clients deal with every day. Some of the key points he will cover are:

Topics will include:

  • Understanding the importance of amortization
  • Why APR and Interest Rate are not the same thing, even when they seem to be
  • The difference between "Financing Values" and "Disclosure Values"
  • The concept of time calendars and their effect on interest accrual: aka Why there isn't one payment for a set of loan data
  • The difference between precomputed and interest bearing transactions
  • The far reaching effect of daily interest accrual or "simple interest" on credit disclosures
  • The concept of rebates / refunds
  • The elusive definition of "actuarial method"

This seminar will provide an excellent foundation for new credit attorneys and a valuable refresher for more experienced credit attorneys. Fee: $60
